'Presently Podcasting'
Readers:
What are your numbers telling
you so far this fall? Mine are pretty encouraging.
I'm pleased with the growth of Work at Home Moms Talk Radio and
the new Baby Talk Radio.
I'm ready to circle back to
the beginning and run through my promotion checklist again -
which we should all be doing occasionally to make sure that
we're not falling through the cracks somewhere.
I bought Jason Van Orden's
book 'Promoting Your Podcast' and I'm hoping to take some time
to read it over the weekend. I do so much reading online
that I am loving having a book to take to the couch :)
'Planning on Podcasting'
Readers:
How close are you to launching
your new show? If you've been in the planning stages for
awhile, what's holding you back? This is a GREAT time to
launch - so I hope you're close!
I sent out news earlier this
week about my upcoming inaugural Podcasting Intensive. I'm
taking six new podcasters through six weeks of intensive
planning and producing, laying the ground work for a fantastic
new podcast.
I have four spots taken so far
- should you be number five or six? This is a special
session of the Intensive since it's my first. I'm looking
for students who are willing to give me a lot of feedback along
the way so that I can make the Intensive even better the next
time. For all of this great 'market research' I'm cutting
them a deal on the price. Instead of $197 - they're only
paying $99.
If you're interesting in
nabbing up one of the last two spots -
send me an email.
Trading Station IDs - Sound
Fun?
Podcasting is a common thread
of discussion over at Verbal Networking. We had an idea this past week to set up a
time for podcasters to trade recording Station IDs for each
other.
For example, I might do a
Station ID for you, 'Hi, this is Kelly McCausey and you
are listening to This Other Great Radio Show with This Other
Great Host. Be sure to visit the website at
http://www.thisothergreatwebsite.com to sign up for the
newsletter and connect with other great resources."
Then you would record one
for me: "Hi, this is A Great Podcast Host and you are
listening to Work at Home Moms Talk Radio with Kelly
McCausey. "
I'll record everything on my
equipment through the conference room if we have good sound, if
anyone has sound issues, I'll have them call in to me directly.
I'll them email the station ID mp3 files to the individual
hosts.
With several of us there we
can all walk away with a nice set of fresh station IDs.
We're going to do this during
Wednesday's 9pm EST session after everyone has had a chance to
introduce themselves - so if you'd love to have some other
voices giving a station ID on your show, come join in and raise
a virtual hand when we start recording.
Price Gouging?
I'm a little shocked by some
of the programs I've seen out there on the web that
are charging would be podcast and internet radio hosts
exorbitant rates for learning products and production services.
I'm a firm believer that a
worker is worthy of his wage and I know that some people are
worth more than others but please be careful out there folks.
Don't let people take you for a ride.
Some New Shows By Moms :)
Some of you know that I get
pretty excited about moms starting new podcasts. This last month
or so has been big!
Visit these great moms and
give them kudos on getting their shows started!
