My Last Post Here

I’ve never been highly prolific as a blogger here at Shoestring Radio and I’m not sure why - I love to blog and I love my topic!

The good news is that I have an opportunity now to make a fresh new start with a blog all about using audio, internet radio and podcasting for business - as a new Expert Blogger at Internet Based Moms.

Come check me out there and be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed.

This blog will remain live for posterity only - but for new posts you have to follow me to my new home ;)

Free Seminar Audio: You’ll Be Podcasting Sooner or Later

If you missed the call on Wednesday night - or if you had a hard time hearing (the teleseminar system was having some technical difficulties) you can download the recording here.

Three Reasons that you’ll be podcasting sooner or later:

1. Your target market wants it. (They want choices for how they consume your content.)

2. Your competitors want it. (They want to partner on and swap audio content.)

3. You want it. (You know that you do!)

If you enjoy this audio - subscribe to the ezine and you’ll get notice of all of my free podcasting seminar :)

You’ll Be Podcasting Sooner or Later

That’s a true statement for many of you :)

And it’s the name of a free seminar I’m holding on Wednesday, May 30th at 8:00pm Eastern.

All you have to do to get an invite is be signed up for my Shoestring Radio Ezine… so get get signed up here.

Also - if you have a specific question or concern about podcasting - there’s a spot on my main page to submit comments and questions. I’ll be answering as many as I can at the seminar.

Keep this on the down-low now ok? We don’t want a crowd there now do we?

What you risk when you’re not podcasting regularly

I am not only an avid Podcaster - I am an avid Podcastee. (I listen to lots of podcasts!)

Even though there are thousands of podcast programs out there - my personal interests do not range too far or wide and I struggle to find enough audio content to satisfy the appetites of my little nano. I search the iTunes directory and I search the old fashioned way (Google) and I subscribe to all of the shows that seem promising.

I listen to a show once - maybe twice to get a feel for it and if it hasn’t captured my attention - I delete the feed.

If I really enjoy a show I wait hungrily for each episode - hungrily I say - without any patience at all. I feel sad when a show isn’t updated often.

What I’ve noticed about myself is this:

I’ll wait with (forced) patience for a favorite podcaster to post a new show - but if I have any ambivalence about a program at all, if it fails to update on schedule - I’m likely to delete the program and go looking for a replacement. The very presense of an un-updated feed in my iTunes is a mood downer for me.

The same is also true of a podcast that fails to deliver what it promised it would be delivering - but that’s another blog post.

So please - please podcast on schedule.

Finding Christmas Music for your Podcast

It’s easier than ever to find some Christmas Music for your Podcast :) I found a ton to consider over on the Podsafe Music Network.

There’s a blog making some great suggestions here: Podcast Christmas Music

Here’s a list of Christmas music available under Creative Commons license.

Don’t be afraid to step outside of the traditional either. There are a lot of very well written original songs available to you.

My friend Tara, host of Army Wife Talk Radio should definitely grab “This White Christmas Will Be Blue” by Beatrice Ericsson for her show. It tells of a woman writing to her soldier overseas, hoping he can be home for Christmas.

I don’t know anybody who doesn’t care about making money

I’m listening to many of my favorite podcasts today and one of them is Marketing Online Live with Paul Colligan and Alex Mandossian. The topic of the most recent episode is very interesting.

They’re responding to the question/debate about whether you should focus on monetizing in podcasting.

I personally haven’t met a single person who didn’t want to make some money from their podcast. Even those who are passionate about their subject matter on a personal level are still hoping that they can at least cover their expenses and put a little kaching in their pockets.

Silly Podcasters

Some actions - or lack of action- on the part of podcasters has me shaking my head and thinking ‘Silly Podcasters!’ So this is a quick audio version of my podcasting ezine.

Leesa Barnes on the International Podcasting Expo

I grabbed Leesa Barnes fresh from the International Podcasting Expo to find out what she took away from the event and also to learn more about what she is up to and has to offer podcasters.
